The New Bulgarian University (NBU) was established on 18 September 1991 by a resolution of the Bulgarian Parliament as a modern, independent private university in Sofia, Bulgaria. It introduced a credit system and liberal arts model of education to the country, pioneering Professional Bachelor’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs, as well as distance learning and continuing education. NBU has received maximum national accreditation repeatedly and is an accredited partner of the Open University UK.
