South‑West University “Neofit Rilski” is a public university located in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. Preparation of Documents
• Applicants prepare their secondary school diploma and transcript for bachelor’s admission.
• All academic documents must be notarized and apostilled, translated into Bulgarian, and certified as required by Bulgarian authorities.
Submission to University
• Documents are submitted to SWU’s admissions office in person or via an authorized representative.
• A fee for document processing (approx. €105) may be applicable.
Language Requirements
• If programs are to be studied in English, proof of English proficiency may be required.
• If they are in Bulgarian, proficiency or language preparation may be expected.
Recognition of Previous Education
• The secondary diploma must be recognised by the Bulgarian Regional Education Inspectorate to confirm eligibility for higher education in Bulgaria.
Pre‑Registration & Consent
• After approval by the university, students receive an acceptance document.
• For non‑EU students, SWU will apply to the Bulgarian Ministry of Education for the study permission certificate required for student visa application.
Visa Application
• With the ministry approval document and proof of accommodation, students apply for a Type‑D Student Visa at the Bulgarian consulate in their home country.
Arrival & Final Registration
• Once the visa is issued and the student arrives in Bulgaria, final registration at the university takes place and classes begin.
